{"id":1043,"date":"2025-01-26T19:32:11","date_gmt":"2025-01-26T16:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ticaret.edu.tr\/matematik\/?page_id=1043"},"modified":"2025-12-22T10:35:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T07:35:08","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/ticaret.edu.tr\/matematik\/en\/history\/","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Istanbul Commerce University<\/h2>\n<h3>Department of Mathematics<\/h3>\n<p>The Department of Mathematics at Istanbul Commerce University was established in <strong>2003<\/strong> within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and began its educational activities in the <strong>Turkish language<\/strong>. The department admitted its first students in <strong>2004<\/strong> at the \u00dcsk\u00fcdar Campus and graduated its first students in <strong>2008<\/strong>. In <strong>2013<\/strong>, thanks to the investment made by our founding foundation, the department moved to the <strong>S\u00fctl\u00fcce Campus<\/strong>, where it continues to provide education today.<\/p>\n<p>Between <strong>2014 and 2018<\/strong>, the department suspended new student admissions. Starting from <strong>2019<\/strong>, it resumed admitting students under the Faculty of <strong>Human and Social Sciences<\/strong>. Since its establishment, the Department of Mathematics has continued its development with the contributions of many distinguished mathematicians who have served the department, and to date has awarded approximately <strong>350 bachelor\u2019s degrees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As of <strong>2025<\/strong>, the Department of Mathematics consists of <strong>2 professors, 1 associate professor, 3 assistant professors (doctor faculty members), and 2 research assistants<\/strong>. All courses are conducted meticulously by this qualified academic staff, with contributions from visiting faculty members when necessary.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Mathematics offers a contemporary curriculum covering the fields of <strong>algebra, analysis, geometry, probability\/statistics, and applied mathematics<\/strong>. Through flexible elective courses and opportunities for <strong>double major and minor programs<\/strong>, students are able to receive an interdisciplinary education.<\/p>\n<p>Students gain research experience at an early stage through <strong>seminars, guest speakers, project-based studies, exchange programs, and industry collaborations<\/strong>, and pursue careers in areas such as <strong>academia, finance, data science, software development, and education<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A strong academic community is supported through regular <strong>seminars and workshops<\/strong>.
