Graduate School of Science And Internet Communications
Ph. D. in Cinema

Our PhD in Cinema program aims to contribute to the training of researchers who will contribute, in their fields, to academic/non-academic research and accumulation of thought, who will interpret and judge cinema with its own history and future perspective, point out alternative perspectives, produce works that enrich the field literature.

In this context, our doctoral program aims to provide the necessary academic formation to understand and question the historical, technological, aesthetic, ethical, epistemological, ontological, social and cultural dimensions of cinema. On the one hand the program also focuses on the questions posed by cinema, on the other hand it offers a critical view of the development processes of both World cinema and Turkish cinema history.

In this respect, our curriculum, which was created in order to educate academics who have a good grasp of the historical development process, follow current developments, and develop a critical vision of the future that is open to innovations, focuses on research areas that will allow us to question the classical and digital periods of cinema with a comparative and holistic method.

The program presents a perspective that requires the evaluation of the mediatic mediums that developed before and after the cinema and the mutual interactions between them. In this context, our program requires a philosophical perspective that can, with a future perspective and a holistic approach, contemplate on the transformation processes of traditional concepts, norms, values and principles that take place with cinema and later within the matrix of mediatic tools.

In any case, our program attaches importance to approaches that are not content with just navigating the boundaries of mutual interaction between different disciplines, but that will go beyond and explore the possibilities of supradisciplinary holistic perspectives.
