The Sociology Department in Istanbul Commerce University offers a Master Study in Applied Sociology designed under the graduate programs of the Institute of Social Sciences.
This program is open to students from various disciplinary backgrounds. The students are taught to conduct original research within the sociological perspective, examine sociological phenomena closely, consider finding solutions to the problems of contemporary society and accomplish this in a scholarly way. Without forgoing the theory students are expected to focus on field studies and building the capacity of research in the practical side of the sociology discipline.
In parallel with the program curriculum the research and thesis produced in the program prioritizes applied methods (both quantitative and qualitative) and field research with a sound theoretical background. Students coming from different disciplines can better adapt to the program thanks to the preparatory classes offered to gain basic competence in sociology.
