For the health and welfare of people, nature and our natural assets must be protected, developed and used properly. It is one of the duties of universities to ensure this, to investigate all kinds of pollutant-disturbing effects that threaten our environment and to inform the society about this, and to provide education and conduct research to spread environmental awareness. The Environmental and Natural Sciences Application and Research Center established within Istanbul Commerce University operates in this direction.

Our center has adopted as its main mission to contribute to environmental and nature conservation issues on a regional and national scale and to create the knowledge base needed by researchers working in this field.

The aim of the Center is to support the promotion, protection and development of the environment and nature through research, education and application studies, to draw attention to the problems affecting the environment and nature, to contribute to the development and dissemination of nature culture by popularizing environmental and nature observation. For this purpose, the Center has undertaken the task of providing research and training equipment to serve environmental and nature workers, establishing documentation centers, research and observation stations, data banks, communication networks, creating written and visual records and making them available to academic institutions and organizations.

Our center develops projects such as nature education and science school in nature and natural environments and conducts scientific studies to reveal the natural assets of our region and our country, starting from the immediate environment.

Among the duties of our Center are to create guiding models and pilot studies for the sector and practitioners operating in the field of environmental and natural sciences; to take initiatives or develop projects to prevent activities that threaten the environment and nature; to carry out research and training programs to promote planned development in accordance with nature.

Our center contributes to the solution of national and global environmental problems through research; conducts studies to reveal the dimension of ecological sustainability in the use of natural resources and the natural parameters of urban transformations in our region, prepares projects dealing with the national parks, nature monuments, flora-fauna, wildlife and landscape values of our country, and tries to endear nature and natural sciences to young generations by carrying out educational projects that will enable the masses who are disconnected or distanced from nature and natural life to get closer to nature.
