THE MESSAGE OF THE HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Business Administration of Istanbul Commerce University started its education in the 2001-2002 fall semester and continues offering education in Sutluce Campus with 366 students in the 2020-2021 academic year.

The purpose of the Department of Business Administration is to raise entrepreneurs, leaders and executives who are experts on business functions, can think globally, act nationally and globally for local and international organizations operating in the private sector, public institutions, and NGOs.

The department has permanent academicians who are experts in their fields, successful and well known, have strong relationships with the business world, and to whom our students can always reach.

We learn the realities of the business world, improve ourselves and transfer all these to our courses as the Department of Business Administration by collaborating with professional committees in the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, pioneer companies, and professional organizations. We offer education to our students to strengthen their national and global knowledge in accordance with the changes of our era, considering the expectations of companies for their employees by compulsory and elective courses, including elective internship course covering the areas of Business Management, R&D, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing and Operations Management, Organizational Behavior, and Management Information Systems in our department.

Moreover, we offer several elective foreign language courses to our students. We are increasing the number of applied courses in which we use current software. We constantly update our curriculum by meeting with our advisory sector committee in accordance with developments in the world and in our country. We also follow technology and digitalization. We give importance to innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership. We emphasize the importance of moral principles and ethical values in business administration. We offer our students opportunities to become proactive, creative, innovative and researcher who have an analytical way of thinking and can contribute to their countries and the world in the Department of Business Administration.

We invite entrepreneurs, leaders and managers who are successful in their fields, organize panels conferences and seminars, and visit workplaces with the cooperation of the Business Community who were founded by our department and students. As the Department of Business Administration, we prepare our students for entrepreneurship with The Business Incubator, The Technology Transfer Office, and The Knowledge Commercialization Center, which are provided by our university.

With our career centre, we provide internships and employment opportunities to our students. Our graduates can find career opportunities in the departments of planning, purchasing, logistics, manufacturing, marketing, sales, HR, accounting, and finance of national and global companies. Moreover, they can find employment opportunities in public institutions and professional organizations. They can become entrepreneurs by establishing their own companies.

The ratio of our graduates to find employment in their own fields is about 95%. This ratio is increasing year by year by offering entrepreneurship coaching, internships, and participation in international commerce delegations and trade shows opportunities with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.

The Department of Business Administration is the “right choice” for students to get prepared for the national and globally competitive environment.  As the department, we are aiming to provide value to our students, their families, academicians, university administration, and all our stakeholders with our genial and producing solutions to problems approach. As the head of the department, all our academicians and I apply an open door policy for our students; our main duty is to pay attention to them. Our biggest ideal is supporting and embracing our students by providing all kinds of opportunities to them to make their dreams come true.
