History

History of the Department

The Department of Logistics Management has undergone a strategic evolution to align with the changing dynamics of the global industry. Our academic journey is marked by significant milestones in growth and specialization:

2013–2014: Foundation

The department first opened its doors during the 2013–2014 academic year under the Faculty of Applied Sciences. At its inception, the program was named International Logistics, focusing on the fundamental pillars of global trade and supply chains.

2016–2017: Academic Transition

After three successful years within the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the department was integrated into the Faculty of Business starting in the 2016–2017 academic year. Along with this transition, the program was renamed International Logistics and Transportation. During this period, the curriculum followed a hybrid model of instruction, with 30% of the coursework delivered in English.

2020–2021: Strategic Rebranding

In line with the Department Board’s decision for the 2020–2021 academic year, our department officially adopted the name Logistics Management. To ensure a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the complex local and international logistics regulations for our students, the medium of instruction was transitioned to Turkish.

Today, the Department of Logistics Management continues to evolve, blending its rich history with modern industrial requirements to graduate the next generation of supply chain leaders.
