Dear Students,
Istanbul Commerce University’s Department of Mathematics aims to offer its students an outstanding program far from memorization and dominated by inquisitive and investigative thinking. In the first two years of the mathematics undergraduate program, theoretical and basic mathematics courses are taught to provide students with a solid mathematical background. In this way, students gain the ability to think mathematically, express their thoughts, analyze, and prove. In the next two years of the program, in addition to theoretical and applied mathematics courses, students are allowed to take elective courses necessary to directly enter business life in various fields such as informatics, banking, finance, and economics, or to continue their academic careers in different disciplines ranging from economics to engineering in addition to mathematics.
Students studying in the mathematics undergraduate program have the opportunity to major and double major in various programs at our university during their education. On the other hand, within the framework of various Erasmus student exchange agreements, students can also gain experience abroad during their undergraduate education. In line with the requests from students, new agreements can be made with different European universities. In addition, if our students want to continue their careers in the field of mathematics after graduation, we also have master’s and doctoral programs within the Institute of Science and Technology.
The Department of Mathematics has 3 professors, 1 associate professor, and 2 assistant professors. This staff teaches All courses meticulously and, when necessary, by guest lecturers. Providing education in classes not exceeding 25 people, the mathematics department provides the opportunity to communicate directly with the faculty members during classes and has an encouraging and supportive educational approach to enable its students to reach their maximum academic potential. Our faculty members contribute internationally to different fields of mathematics by publishing in journals scanned by Science Citation Index (SCI) and Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E).
