Department of International Trade Held Its 2025 Orientation Event
Istanbul Ticaret University’s International Trade Department organised an orientation event in September 2025 to prepare first-year students for university life and guide them. At this meeting, held at the Sütlüce Campus, students gained comprehensive information about the academic opportunities and personal and professional development opportunities offered by the department.
The presentation by Department Head Associate Professor Cihat Köksal highlighted the following topics:
- University Mission and Vision: The university’s goal of nurturing entrepreneurial, ethical and globally competent individuals who can keep pace with a changing world was shared.
- General Introduction to the Department: While conveying the mission and vision of the International Trade Department, the theoretical and practical courses offered to equip students in the fields of global trade, economics and business were discussed. The teaching staff and their areas of expertise were introduced.
- Academic and Social Opportunities: The curriculum, academic calendar and elective courses were introduced. The importance of international opportunities such as the Erasmus Exchange Programme and Double Degree was emphasised. Information was provided on how to make effective use of the library, laboratories and other facilities.
- Career and Future Planning: Students were introduced to career paths in international trade, such as export-import management, logistics, and finance. The role of internship opportunities, extracurricular activities, and networking opportunities in professional development was conveyed.
- Quality Processes and Student Participation: Information was provided about our university’s quality processes, and the importance of student contribution to the culture of quality was emphasised. In addition, the Student Quality Society was introduced, and areas where students can play an active role were shared.
During the event, the International Trade Society unit heads also provided participants with information about the society’s activities and the opportunities it offers to students.
The programme ended with a group photo taken with the new students.
