International Trade Talks Started: Retailing in the New Year

The first event of the International Trade Talks for 2024 took place on May 7 at Istanbul Ticaret University Sütlüce Campus. The event, which attracted great interest from students, hosted the leading names of the retail industry. The opening speeches were made by Prof. Dr. Figen Yıldırım, Head of the Department of International Trade, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aşkım Nurdan TÜMBEK TEKEOĞLU, faculty member of our university.

Valuable Tips on Retail and Cosmetics Trends from Oriflame

In the first part of the event, Oriflame Turkey President Johan Larsson shed light on current trends in the sector with his presentation titled “Retail and Cosmetics Trends”. In Larsson’s presentation, important changes in the industry and new consumer preferences were highlighted, emphasizing the importance of adapting strategies to meet changing market demands.

Counter Counterfeiting: Counterfake’s Artificial Intelligence Solution

In the second part, Furkan Arslan, founder of Counterfake, presented an artificial intelligence application that detects whether products are real or fake in the retail industry. Arslan’s presentation showed how this innovative technology is revolutionizing brand protection efforts and enabling consumers to access real products.

Entrepreneurship Story from the Founder of RawSome

In another interesting part of the event, Semra İnce, the founder of RawSome, shared her entrepreneurship journey and shared her experiences with the students. Ince’s story, which started in 2016 with the first production, provided valuable information on overcoming challenges and achieving success in a competitive retail environment.

Minoa’s Story of Becoming an International Brand

Petek Tokuz, co-founder of Minoa, which was established as an independent bookstore-café in Beşiktaş Akaretler and became a brand in the world of culture and arts, made an inspiring presentation by sharing the strategies and decisions that influenced its success with the participants.

The event provided participants with a rich source of information and inspiration, emphasizing the dynamic nature of the retail industry and the importance of innovation in achieving success. The event ended with a group photo session.
