The Department of International Trade at Istanbul Commerce University held an orientation presentation designed to welcome and guide first-year students as they begin their academic journey in September 2024. Held at the Sütlüce Campus, the event provided a comprehensive overview of the department’s resources, academic programmes and opportunities for personal and professional development.
The highlights of the orientation presentation given by our department head Assoc. Prof. Cihat Köksal were as follows
- University Mission and Vision: Students were introduced to the university’s commitment to educating entrepreneurial, ethical and globally competent individuals who are equipped to meet the demands of an ever-changing world.
- Department Overview: The presentation explained the mission and vision of the Department of International Trade, which focuses on equipping students with theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of global trade, economics and business. Faculty members and their areas of expertise were also introduced.
- Academic and Extra-Curricular Opportunities
- Details of the academic calendar, curriculum and elective courses were shared to help students plan their studies effectively.
- The importance of participating in programmes such as the Erasmus Exchange Programme and Dual Degree opportunities was emphasised.
- Advice was given on how to succeed in exams and utilise departmental facilities such as laboratories and libraries.
- Career Guidance and Networking: Students learnt about career paths in international trade, such as export-import management, logistics and global finance. They were also encouraged to participate in internships and extra-curricular activities to enhance their professional profile.
The event ended with a group photo taken with the students who attended the orientation.
