Admission Requirements

Master’s Degree Program Application Requirements

  • Applicants for the Master’s Degree Program must have a minimum score of 55 in the relevant ALES* score type, or a minimum score of 65 in the YDS/YÖKDİL exam administered by ÖSYM for English Master’s Degree Programs, or an equivalent score in one of the international foreign language exams recognized as equivalent by the Inter-University Council. Applicants who do not have a language certificate will be required to take a foreign language exam at the university.

  • For the Business English, Economics English, and English African Studies programs (for the Master’s Program in International Relations, a minimum score of 55 on the Foreign Language Exam administered by ÖSYM) For student admission, a minimum score of 65 on the Foreign Language Exam administered by ÖSYM or an equivalent score on an international English language exam recognized as equivalent by the ÖSYM Board of Directors is required; applicants who cannot meet this requirement must pass our university’s Foreign Language Proficiency Exam.

Education – Teaching

  • Classes are held on weekdays between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and on weekends when necessary.
  • Our University’s graduate programs are conducted simultaneously at the Sütlüce and Küçükyalı campuses, and new programs can be launched at either campus in line with academic needs.
  • Thesis-based Master’s Programs consist of 8 courses, a seminar course, and thesis work.
  • Non-thesis Master’s Programs consist of 10 courses and a term project.
  • Attendance is mandatory for 70% of the courses.
  • In order for a student to defend their master’s thesis, they must have an article published in a national or international peer-reviewed journal.

Scientific Preparation Courses

  • Scientific preparation courses are offered to applicants who have obtained their bachelor’s degree in a field different from the master’s program they are applying to, in order to address their deficiencies.
  • Scientific preparation courses are non-credit courses and are subject to an additional fee.

Doctoral Program Application Requirements

  • Applicants applying to the Doctoral Program with a Master’s degree must have obtained a minimum score of 55 in the relevant ALES score type.
  • For the Doctoral Program, applicants must have scored at least 55 (at least 65 for the Business English doctoral program) on the YDS/YÖKDİL exam administered by ÖSYM or have obtained an equivalent score on one of the international foreign language exams recognized as equivalent by the Inter-University Council.
  • Applicants to the Private Law doctoral program and the International Trade and European Union Law doctoral program must have completed their undergraduate studies in the field of “Law.”
  • For English programs, a YDS/YÖKDİL score of 65 is required, and for the Political Science and International Relations program, a YDS/YÖKDİL score of 55 is required.

  • Students admitted to the Doctoral Program with a Master’s degree must complete 8 courses, a seminar, a qualifying exam, and a doctoral thesis.
  • Class attendance is mandatory at a rate of 70%.
  • In order for students to defend their doctoral thesis, they must have an article published in a national or international peer-reviewed journal.
