MIS Research Series-2 Event Held
The second event of the MIS Research Series, organized by the Department of Management Information Systems at our university’s Faculty of Business Administration with the aim of enhancing researchers’ publishing capacity, was held at the Sütlüce Campus under the title “The Researcher’s Roadmap: 100 Rules.”
The guest speaker of the event, which was attended by our university’s academics and researchers, was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kerem Toker, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Head of the Department of Health Management at Bezmialem Vakıf University. Sharing valuable insights and experiences on academic and scientific publishing, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Toker especially highlighted key strategies for publishing in reputable databases such as Web of Science (WoS). Thanks to the active participation of the attendees, the event extended beyond its planned duration and lasted for 3.5 hours.

As a reviewer for internationally indexed journals, Dr. Toker also shared his experiences from the perspective of the review process. He discussed common mistakes made by authors, journals’ approaches to submissions, and the psychology of peer reviewers, providing concrete examples. Additionally, he offered evaluations on the peer-review process and the culture of international publishing. Drawing attention to the differences between academic publishing standards in Turkey and international norms, Dr. Toker provided guiding recommendations for researchers.
One of the most striking aspects of the event was Dr. Toker’s presentation titled “The Researcher’s Roadmap: 100 Rules,” which he created to serve as a guide for researchers. Starting and ending his list with “1 – Enjoy It” and “100 – Enjoy It,” he emphasized that the research and publishing process should be driven by intrinsic motivation, willingness, and dedication.
