LATERAL TRANSFER

Conditions for Lateral Transfer to Graduate Programs

The conditions for lateral transfer to graduate programs are regulated under the relevant article of the Istanbul Commerce University Graduate Education and Training Regulation:

Article 44:

(1) Successful students who have completed at least one semester—excluding the scientific preparation period—in a graduate program within a department of an institute at the University or another higher education institution may apply for transfer to graduate programs.

(2) Students wishing to transfer from equivalent programs—whose equivalency is approved by the relevant institute board—offered by institutes of other universities to an institute of the University must have completed at least one semester of graduate study at the original institute, successfully passed all the courses taken, and fulfilled the current admission requirements of the graduate program they wish to transfer into.

(3) The same conditions apply to transfers between institutes and departments within the University, as well as between thesis and non-thesis graduate programs.

(4) The courses previously completed by such students and recognized as equivalent to those in the relevant graduate program are determined upon the recommendation of the head of the relevant department and the decision of the institute’s administrative board. The evaluation of the equivalency of completed and passed courses is conducted by the relevant institute board.

(5) Students transferring laterally are subject to the maximum duration limits specified in this Regulation for the level at which they are admitted.
