Developments in new information and communication technologies have caused the media industry to undergo substantial transformation. Besides traditional communication tools, the increasing dominance of new media in the media sector increases the sector’s need for qualified personnel. In this context, the Department of Media and Communication aims to train well-equipped individuals who can work in the media sector to meet both the needs of traditional media and the needs of unconventional information and communication technologies in the media sector.
In this framework, the curriculum of the Department of Media and Communication has been prepared with an interdisciplinary perspective. Our students receive practical courses from academicians who are experts in their fields such as Information Applications, New Communication Technologies, Photography, Radio and Television Journalism, Internet Journalism, Media Literacy, Multimedia Design, Editing Techniques, Transmedia Narratives, and Social Media and Society
Our students can find the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills they have learned during lessons through various tasks they undertake in TIMM (the Faculty of Communication, Trade Communication and Media Center), as well as in the radio and television studios. Our students periodically publish the “Italik” magazine and “Haber Postası” newspaper.
