The last of our seminars was organized within the scope of the 2020-2021 “GNL450 Vocational Education Training ” course by the Istanbul Commerce University Faculty of Architecture and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and Department of Architecture. “The Ocean in the Aquarium: On the Design-Theory Relationship” was held online on Monday, June 7, 2021, with the participation of Ozan Gürsoy. Gürsoy focused on the effect of the aquarium / ocean metaphor on the education – undergraduate process, the workshop processes, some of the works that should be read in order to understand the theory of design, and what it brought to him. In the speech, in which the importance of a critical approach to the concept of design, the search for going beyond the norms, and getting rid of the dogmatic thoughts we acquired from childhood, was emphasized, the meaning of design as an endless possibility was discussed. Emphasis was placed on the value that research and discovery would add to our designs and communications.

As the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and the Department of Architecture, we would like to thank Ozan Gürsoy for his contributions to the eleventh “GNL450 Vocational Education Training ” series, which was realized with the questions and contributions of Istanbul Commerce University Faculty of Architecture and Design students.
