“Microcosm Tunnel” Reaches the TÜBİTAK Finals

The “Microcosm Tunnel: A Journey into the Invisible World” project developed by our university students has advanced to the final stage of the TÜBİTAK Science Center Exhibition Design Competition. Combining scientific content with exhibition design, the project offers visitors an interactive experience to explore the micro-world.

Developed by students from the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Istanbul Commerce University, the project successfully passed the second stage of the TÜBİTAK Science Center Exhibition Design Competition and qualified for the final presentation. By integrating scientific content with exhibition design, it enables visitors to explore life at a microscopic scale through an engaging and interactive experience.

Science Meets Design

The project, developed by Interior Architecture and Environmental Design students Merve Nur İbiş, Beyzanur Gökbayrak, Erva Nur Aydoğdu, Elif Azra Toptaş, and Merve Sarıgül, presents invisible life forms within a spatial narrative framework. Through an interactive exhibition approach, it translates the world of microscopic organisms into an experiential environment while communicating scientific knowledge through design language.

Developed Within a Course Framework

The project was produced as part of the ICM340 Showcase and Exhibition Design course offered in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design. Throughout the course, students applied their knowledge and skills to develop an original project focused on visitor experience, spatial storytelling, and exhibition design.

Successfully Passed Jury Evaluation

Supervised by Lecturer Dr. Nur Sümeyye Yalçın Koçak from the Department of Architecture, the project successfully passed the second evaluation stage of the TÜBİTAK Science Center Exhibition Design Competition. As a result, the team earned the right to present their project to the jury in the final stage.

Final Presentations in Gebze

The final presentations of the TÜBİTAK Science Center Exhibition Design Competition will take place on July 3 in Gebze. Representing Istanbul Commerce University, the student team will present their project before the jury in the final round.
