The Importance of Recycling in the Zero Waste Process Discussed at Istanbul Commerce University

The conference titled “The Importance of Recycling in the Zero Waste Process,” organized through the collaboration of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Vocational School at Istanbul Commerce University, was held on May 22 at the Hezarfen Campus. The event addressed recycling and sustainability from multiple perspectives, with Yüksel Yılmaz, President of the Istanbul Recycling Association (İGEDER), participating as the keynote speaker.

Recycling for a Sustainable Future

In his presentation, İGEDER President Yüksel Yılmaz emphasized the importance of recycling in ensuring environmental sustainability. He highlighted the critical role of recycling practices in conserving natural resources, saving energy, and reducing waste generation.

The conference underlined that the zero-waste approach is not only an environmental policy but also a shared social responsibility. Examples of practical recycling and waste management methods applicable to daily life were discussed, along with the roles individuals and institutions can play in this process.

At the end of the program, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Yüksel Yılmaz in recognition of his valuable contribution to raising awareness on environmental sustainability.

Istanbul Commerce University continues to bring students together with industry representatives through events that strengthen sustainability awareness and environmental responsibility.

Strong Student Engagement

The event attracted significant interest from students and academic staff. Participants gained insights into current practices in the recycling sector and recent developments in sustainability, while the Q&A session provided an opportunity to directly engage with the expert speaker and address their questions.
