The social, political, economic, and cultural changes brought about by globalization have also taken trade to an international level. Under today’s conditions, trade requires cross-border and cross-cultural cooperation. It has become imperative for businesses engaged in trade to employ workers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to compete globally. The International Trade and Finance program is a specialized, interdisciplinary program that goes beyond traditional academic disciplines, aiming to train individuals equipped to meet the needs of businesses operating on a global scale.
The International Trade and Finance Department brings together topics such as trade, business, and digitalization, enabling students to specialize in many areas such as international economics, finance, accounting, and marketing.
With a curriculum focused on both traditional international markets and digital world applications, the program aims to equip students with the ability to use emerging technologies in their fields of expertise, acquire intercultural perspectives, critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills to adapt to the transition towards a sustainable world. The department’s curriculum is designed based on academic and industry dynamics to achieve this goal. Thanks to the relationships established with leading companies and public institutions in the sector, including the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, sector needs can be closely monitored.
The department curriculum offers students the opportunity to learn various foreign languages in addition to English as elective courses. Internships, which are included in the program as elective courses, provide students with the opportunity to gain competence in their fields by preparing them thoroughly for the conditions of the business world and the job market.
The theoretical courses in the department’s curriculum are designed to be taught by our university’s competent academics, while the practical courses are taught by experts from the industry.
Thanks to the skills and competencies they acquire, graduates of the department can start their careers in positions such as assistant specialist, specialist, management candidate, portfolio manager, and investment advisor in national/international companies, primarily in foreign trade, finance, and accounting departments, international logistics companies, national/international banks and insurance companies, stock exchanges and brokerage firms, and investment consulting firms. They can also work in public institutions and organizations such as the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade and Treasury, the Ministry of Trade, Chambers of Industry and Commerce, and Exporters’ Associations.
