At the event titled “The Researcher’s Roadmap: 100 Rules,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kerem Toker shared the key points of academic publishing.
The second event in the MIS Research Series, organized by the Department of Management Information Systems at our university’s Faculty of Business Administration and aimed at increasing researchers’ publication capacity, was held at the Sütlüce Campus under the title “The Researcher’s Roadmap: 100 Rules.”
The guest speaker at the event, attended by academics and researchers from our university, was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kerem Toker, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Head of the Department of Health Management at Bezmialem Vakıf University. Sharing important information and experiences regarding academic and scientific publishing with the participants, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Toker discussed, in particular, the key points of publishing in prestigious databases such as Web of Science (WoS). Thanks to the active participation of the researchers, the event exceeded its scheduled duration and lasted 3.5 hours.

Toker, who also serves as a reviewer for internationally indexed journals, explained his experiences in the publication evaluation process, common mistakes, these journals’ approaches to submissions, and reviewer psychology through examples. He also offered assessments of the peer-review process and the culture of international publishing. Drawing attention to the differences between the understanding of academic publishing in Türkiye and international standards, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Toker presented guiding recommendations for researchers.
One of the most noteworthy aspects of the event was Toker’s work titled “The Researcher’s Roadmap: 100 Rules,” which he prepared to guide researchers. Beginning his list with “1 – Enjoyment” and ending it with “100 – Enjoyment,” Toker emphasized that this process can be sustained through intrinsic motivation, willingness, and dedication.
