Commercial diplomacy is a broad field where negotiations are conducted in various ways to resolve conflicts that affect international trade in an environment of political and economic disputes and increasingly complex structures and relationships. It also involves generating solutions to problems and establishing international collaborations through trade and investment agreements.
It is essential to train undergraduate graduates as commercial diplomacy experts who are proficient in the terminology of the field, capable of intercultural communication, value entrepreneurship or wish to improve their entrepreneurial skills, and want to strengthen the academic side of international trade. These experts should contribute to public bureaucracy and the business world.
In Turkey, the lack of academically competent experts in this field is a significant gap, and it would be beneficial to address this deficiency as soon as possible. Commercial diplomacy is related to interdisciplinary subjects such as economics, business administration, international trade, political science, and international relations. It encompasses economic, commercial, and legal environments that support analyses promoting international trade, as well as all negotiation processes.
