Family Counseling and Education; As a rapidly developing country today, Turkey is experiencing a rapid transformation in economic, social and other fields. Although development and transformation is a positive and desirable situation for society in general, it also brings many problems.
Changes such as economic transformation and the accompanying migration and urbanization, economic problems, unemployment and employment problems, developments in mass media, developments in the educational structure of society and the emergence of different educational demands, developments in the employment of women, developments in the field of health and the increase in people’s sensitivity and demands, especially in mental health, have a significant impact on the family as well as on all segments of society. These changes and problems affect the family institution as well as individuals and it becomes very difficult to preserve family unity. As a result, domestic violence is becoming widespread, divorce is on the rise, families are having difficulties in controlling their children, and they are confused about how to educate their children.
Family Counseling and Education For these reasons, the Ministry of Family and Social Policies saw the need for family counselors and determined the duties and qualifications of family counseling centers and family counselors who will work in these centers with the regulation published in the official gazette on 04.09.2012. However, it is stated that there are not enough family counselors employed in social service centers and family counseling centers.
In line with these needs, the aim of the program is to train specialist professional staff in this field.
