Management Information Systems (English)

Prof. Dr. Necla Öykü İYİGÜN

Concepts such as R&D, Industry 4.0, and innovation have profoundly impacted traditional approaches in production, e-commerce, business analytics, and digital marketing within the economy. Today, as businesses transform into dynamic, interactive, and rapidly digitizing structures through information system technologies, traditional economic and business approaches are proving insufficient. In this era, where disciplines like business and economics, as well as their interdisciplinary relationships, are undergoing transformation, there is a need to closely examine and understand the evolution of management information systems. Understanding the theoretical and practical applications of changes in the macro and micro environments within the new economy framework, particularly in fields such as business, international trade, human resources, finance, operations, and supply chain management, is among the program’s primary objectives.

In line with our country’s goal of creating a global competitive advantage, developing management and organizational structures that dominate high-value-added chains and offer advanced technology products and services is of utmost importance. In this context, it is necessary to explain and interpret the structures of management information systems. Considering this reality, “Management Information Systems” is an interdisciplinary field that supports data-driven decisions and applications in the business world and enables the training of graduates capable of meeting growing demands. This department collaborates with Business Analytics, Digital Economy, and Marketing departments to offer shared courses. Management Information Systems continues to be in high demand as an interdisciplinary field, addressing the needs of the business world and contributing to existing programs through course support, thereby meeting the demands of industry and academic stakeholders.
