In the business world, where globalization and intense competition are prominent, the importance of marketing has significantly increased. Especially as businesses compete in similar markets with similar products, prices, distribution, and promotional strategies, they face challenges in reaching target audiences and implementing marketing strategies effectively. At this stage, businesses must create value by encompassing all marketing approaches. Furthermore, during the transition from a production economy to a consumption economy globally, the importance of marketing has become even more prominent. In this context, topics such as changing consumer behavior analysis, branding processes, logistics management, digitalization, developments in the retail sector, increasing customer value and importance, international market analysis, sales management approaches, marketing communication strategies, service marketing, and marketing research have gained great importance.
In light of these developments in the market and academic environment, Istanbul Commerce University has established, under the Institute of Social Sciences, both Turkish and English (thesis and non-thesis) Marketing Management Master’s programs, along with a Turkish PhD program in Marketing Management. In the Marketing Management Master’s (with thesis) program, students are required to take courses such as Strategic Marketing Management, Consumer Behavior, Brand Management, Marketing Research, Seminar, Scientific Research Methods and Ethics, as well as 3 elective courses. In the non-thesis program, the same core courses are offered (with Integrated Marketing Communication replacing Seminar), but students are required to take four elective courses. Thesis-track students complete a thesis, while non-thesis students complete a final project. The same courses are offered in English for English programs. In the Marketing PhD program, students who complete courses such as Marketing Theory, Integrated Marketing Communication Theories, Principles and Strategies of Brand Management, International Marketing Theory, Seminar, and Scientific Research Methods and Ethics are eligible to take the qualifying exam. Upon passing, they proceed to the doctoral dissertation phase. Both Master’s and PhD programs offer a wide range of important elective courses in the marketing field. These programs, conducted by expert faculty members, provide students with up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge and encourage them to engage in academic and scientific research.
