GRADUATE SCHOOL

The Istanbul Commerce University Political Science and International Relations PhD Program aims to train researchers and academics in the field of International Relations. The program seeks to equip graduates with the theoretical and empirical knowledge necessary to produce competent work in the main areas of political science, including Political Theory, Comparative Politics, Political History, Turkish Politics, and International Relations.

Through the doctoral dissertations produced in these areas, the program aims to train academics capable of understanding the transformation dynamics of both global and local politics, thereby contributing to analyses of political issues at both local and global levels. In an era of rapid political change, where non-state actors and international institutions are becoming increasingly influential in the international system and new forms of political organization are emerging, the program will conduct research to help understand the main transformation trends in politics. The program aims not only to produce knowledge relevant to the spirit of the times but also to generate trans-temporal political knowledge, fostering theoretical innovations on fundamental political issues.

Students who successfully complete the International Relations PhD program will gain a comprehensive theoretical foundation, enabling them to pursue opportunities as academic staff at national and international universities, as well as roles in research centers, bureaucracy, the communication and media sector, and various areas of the private sector in their field of expertise.
