ASSOC. PROF. VAHDETTİN IŞIK

He completed his undergraduate education at the Department of Sociology of Istanbul University. He did his master’s thesis on “Cultural Alienation in the II. Constitutional Monarchy and Today”, and his doctorate dissertation on “Perception of East-West in Turkish Thought of the II. Constitutional Period: The Examples of ‘İçtihad’ and ‘Sırat-ı Müstakim’ Journals”. He continues his studies on issues such as the Issues of the Ottoman-Turkish Modernization Experience, Contemporary Islamic Thought, Religion and Society in the Modern World, and the Issue of Civilization. He implemented the “Islamic Journals from 1908 to 2008” project with a view to collecting the Islamic journals, which constitute one of the most important channels of the century’s Islamist heritage, on a digital platform. He is currently consulting on this project. Vahdettin IŞIK, who has many published books and articles, is a member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) National Committee for the Convergence of Cultures. Assoc Prof. IŞIK currently works as a Faculty Member and the Director of the Institute of Alliance of Civilizations at Ibn Haldun University.
