Dr. İsrafil Kuralay was born in Erzurum, Turkey in 1965. He received his undergraduate degree from Ankara University Faculty of Communication in 1986, his Master’s Degree from Istanbul University Faculty of Communication in 1997 and his PhD degree from Istanbul Ticaret University in 2020.
He started his career at The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) Istanbul Branch, where he worked between 1987 and 1992 as a cameraman and cinematographer. Afterwards, he continued his career at Türkiye Newspaper, Radio and Television (TGRT) as a producer, director and program manager for 3 years.
He served as the Vice President of BIRSAD (United Artists Association) between 1993 and 1997.
He has been serving as the Founding Partner and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yedirenk İletişim Production since 1996.
He served as a Member of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Press Committee of MUSIAD (Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association) between 1998 and 2003.
He taught Media Communication courses as a Lecturer at the Istanbul University School of Social Sciences between 1994 and 2007.
He served as the Vice President of MUSIAD between 2003 and 2005.
While serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of BSF Academy between 2004 and 2008, he also taught TV Production Techniques course there during the same period.
He taught TV Production Techniques Course as a Lecturer at Istanbul Ticaret University Faculty of Communication between 2006 and 2008. He resumed teaching TV Production Techniques course at Istanbul Ticaret University Faculty of Communication in 2020 along with the Media and Communication History course.
He served as the Vice President of ÖNDER (Islamic Divinity Vocational High School Alumni Association) between 2005 and 2006.
He served as the Member of the Board of Directors of IKV (Economic Development Foundation) between 2005 and 2009.
He served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UTESAV (International Technological, Economic and Social Research Foundation) between 2005 and 2016.
He served as the Member of the Board of Directors of Istanbul European Capital of Culture Agency between 2009 and 2011.
He served as the Member of the Board of Directors of ITO (Istanbul Chamber of Commerce) between 2009 and 2013.
He served as the Chairman of the Press and Broadcasting Committee of TOBB (The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey) between 2013 and 2018.
Once again, he served as the Vice President of MUSIAD between 2017 and 2019.
He has been working as a columnist at the Diriliş Postası Newspaper since 2016.He has been serving as the Chairman of the High Advisory Board of Press-Broadcasting Union, Turkish Press-Broadcasting Professional Association since 2020.
He has been serving as the Vice President of ITO since 2018.
He has been serving as a Member of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Ticaret University since 2022.
Dr. İsrafil Kuralay, who speaks English, Arabic and French, is married and has two children.
