Our academician Prof. Dr. Tuna became a member of the CBRT MPC

Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tuna, one of our faculty members at the Department of Economics of Istanbul Ticaret University, became a member of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Monetary Policy Committee (CBRT MPC).
The Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette imposed some changes in the Central Bank. Accordingly, CBRT Vice Presidents Prof. Dr. Semih Tümen and Dr. Uğur Namık Küçük and MPC member Prof. Dr. Abdullah Yavaş were dismissed. On the other hand, Taha Çakmak was appointed as the CBRT Vice President and Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tuna was appointed as the member of MPC.
Who is Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tuna?
Prof. Dr. Tuna was born in 1959 in Trabzon. He graduated from the Department of Economics and Finance at the School of Financial Sciences and Accounting at Ankara Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences in 1981. He completed his Master’s and Doctorate degrees at Istanbul University Social Sciences Institute in the field of Economics in 1984 and 1988, respectively. He attained the titles of associate professor and full professor in 1991 and 1997, respectively. Prof. Dr. Tuna started his career in 1977 at the Ankara Regional Directorate of the Turkish Agricultural Equipment Institution, and then worked at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry during the period of 1980-1982. He became a Research Assistant at the Department of Economic Policy at the Faculty of Economics of Istanbul University in 1982.
Prof. Dr. Tuna, who has a Certified Public Accountant and Independent Auditor Certificate, served as a Board Member of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (SDIF) during the period of 2003-2004 and as a Board Member of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) during the period of 2003-2009. Prof. Dr. Tuna, who has been the advisor to many master’s theses and doctoral dissertations, has 4 published books, 5 published book chapters and many academic articles. Most recently, he was appointed as a Member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey on October 13th, 2021. Prof. Dr. Tuna is married and father to three children.
Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tuna, who has served as the Vice-Rector of Istanbul Ticaret University during the period of 2014-2015, continues his academic activities at the the same University at the Department of Economics of Faculty of Business Administration.
