The academic visit, held between 20–28 June 2026, was attended, in order of academic protocol, by Dr. Lütfü Çakır, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yunus Özcan, Vice Director of the Institute of Commerce and Finance and faculty member of the Department of Economics (English); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Yener, Chair of the Department of Mathematics; and Dr. Elif Nuray Yıldırım, Coordinator of Exchange Programs and faculty member of the Department of Mathematics. Together, they represented Istanbul Ticaret University and its academic units throughout the program.
RENEWİNG ACADEMİC BRIDGES
This meaningful visit built upon the strong foundations established through previous collaborations. During the previous fall semester, faculty members from Tashkent International University—Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samandar Babaev, Dr. Javlon Davronov, Munira Abdullayeva, and Sofiya Alimova—visited Istanbul Ticaret University under the Orhun Exchange Program to deliver lectures. This time, they warmly welcomed the Turkish delegation to their home institution in Tashkent.
During the visit, the delegation was officially received by Prof. Dr. Yuldashev Iskandar Baxramovich, Rector of Tashkent International University. In a cordial meeting, the Rector and the delegation discussed the future of the strategic partnership between the two universities and exchanged commemorative gifts. The delegation was also formally welcomed by Qurbonov Bahodir Ne’matullayevich, Vice Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual-Educational Affairs, who emphasized the importance of the growing cooperation between the two institutions. Reuniting with our Uzbek colleagues in Tashkent after hosting them in Istanbul last semester demonstrated the sustainability of this academic partnership. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to reinforce institutional cooperation while further strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two universities.
Throughout the program, participants engaged in scientific seminars alongside cultural activities that celebrated the shared heritage of Türkiye and Uzbekistan. During the first days of the visit, the delegation explored Amirsoy Mountain Resort, one of the region’s prominent natural attractions. Following productive meetings with the senior management of Tashkent International University, the delegation visited the Department of Exact Sciences. They also toured the Center of Islamic Civilization, one of the region’s most significant symbols of the shared Turkish-Islamic heritage.
STRONG INTEREST IN SCIENTIFIC SEMINARS AND TEACHING ACTIVITIES
The academic highlight of the visit consisted of a series of lectures, seminars, and panel discussions organized simultaneously across different disciplines to promote faculty- and institute-level collaboration.
One of the featured sessions was an international mobility seminar delivered by Dr. Elif Nuray Yıldırım, Coordinator of Exchange Programs. In her presentation titled “Sustainable Success and Global Impact in Internationalisation: Opportunities for Tashkent International University,” Dr. Yıldırım emphasized the strategic importance of the Orhun Exchange Program, implemented under the auspices of the Organization of Turkic States. She introduced the funding opportunities offered through both Erasmus+ and the Orhun Exchange Program, explained project development processes and student and staff mobility procedures, and presented a roadmap aimed at maximizing mobility and institutional collaboration between the two partner universities.
New Perspectives in Social Sciences and Education
Dr. Lütfü Çakır, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, delivered a lecture entitled “Human Capital and the Economics of Education.” His presentation focused on the critical role of human capital in economic development, the contribution of educational investment to social welfare, and contemporary theoretical approaches in the economics of education. He also discussed the influence of cultural ties on educational systems and highlighted the potential for joint social responsibility initiatives between the universities while sharing his perspectives on teacher education and curriculum development.
GLOBAL ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL TRENDS
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yunus Özcan, Vice Director of the Institute of Commerce and Finance and faculty member of the Department of Economics (English), delivered a conference titled “Economic Relations Between Türkiye and Uzbekistan.” Addressing students and researchers in economics, he examined bilateral trade relations, financial integration, and future cooperation opportunities between the two countries within the context of global economic developments. Delivered in English, his presentation offered valuable insights into macroeconomic analysis and international trade policy.
ADVANCED APPROACHES IN MATHEMATICS
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Yener, Chair of the Department of Mathematics, presented a seminar entitled “Degenerate Parabolic Equations Associated with the Greiner Operator.” In this advanced mathematical lecture, he introduced his original research on the mathematical analysis of degenerate parabolic equations related to the Greiner operator, discussing their theoretical significance and position within the academic literature. The seminar attracted considerable interest from both faculty members and students at Tashkent International University.
BUILDING STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE FUTURE
Following the seminars, our academics engaged in lively discussions with Uzbek students and faculty members, answering questions and further strengthening the scientific dialogue between the two institutions.
At the conclusion of the teaching mobility program, the delegation successfully completed its official engagements in Tashkent with a high level of mutual satisfaction. The program concluded with a visit to the historic city of Bukhara, one of the most important centers of Turkish-Islamic civilization and scholarship. Istanbul Ticaret University remains firmly committed to expanding its academic partnerships across the Turkic World. Through new joint projects, international symposiums, and increased academic mobility, the University will continue to strengthen the bridges of science, education, and friendship that connect higher education institutions throughout the region.
