Prof Dr Mustafa Ilıcalı paid official visits about transportation in Ankara

“Workshop on Coordination and Evaluation of Metropolitan Municipalities’ Transportation Problems and Solutions Thereof”, which was held in Kaya Istanbul Fair & Convention Hotel in Istanbul on March 4th-5th, 2022, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilıcalı, Director of Istanbul Ticaret University Transportation Systems Application and Research Center, upon the request of the Heads of Transportation Departments of Metropolitan Municipalities, received great coverage in the local and national press, attracted a wide range of attention from the representatives of relevant institutions and organizations, and became a hope for the solution of common problems.
The subthemes of the workshop were ensuring a strong coordination between the central government and the local government, developing new methods specific to investment and financing, institutional structuring and legislative arrangements. Specific results were achieved for the immediate solution of the problems of the transportation sector, with the participation of all participants. One of the most important outcomes of the workshop was the regulation of the Legislation for the Mass Transportation System. Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı personally shared the information on the subject in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey by paying official visits at the highest level. In this context, Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı met with the Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Birpınar, Justice and Development Party Group Deputy Chairman Mr. Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu, Republican People’s Party Deputy Chairman for Local Governments Mr. Seyit Torun and Nationalist Movement Party Group Deputy Chairman Mr. Erkan Akçay. The said officials of the political parties approached the issue positively and stated that they would maintain contact with Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı and the Istanbul Ticaret University Transportation Systems Application and Research Center.
In addition, Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı shared the workshop final declaration with Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Birpınar, General Manager of Legal Services at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mr. Ahmet Küçükler, and President of the Turkish Group of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Mr. Ahmet Yıldız.
Additionally, another meeting on the subject will be held in Istanbul on Friday under the guidance of Dr. Nureddin Nebati, Minister of Treasury and Finance, and Ms. Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Services, with Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services Mr. Rıdvan Duran and Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Mr. Mahmut Gürcan.
Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı presented the workshop final declaration to Mr. Mehmet Yavuz, the Traffic Director of the Ministry of Interior, who participated in the workshop and shared his knowledge, know how and experience, in order to carry the recommendations in the workshop final report into effect with a view to making the lives of millions of citizens living in our metropolises easier, and received the promise that necessary support would be given to that effect.
Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı cam together with Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Birpınar, Ministry of National Education General Manager of Private Education Institutions Mr. Ömer İnan and Ministry of National Education Support Services General Manager Mr. Levent Özil, and shared the workshop final report and the environment – traffic model app developed to the benefit of little students in all our country’s schools as an extension to our social responsibility project entitled “There are No Minor Errors in Traffic!”, which we have been working on for about 3 years within the scope of the protocol signed between the Ministry of National Education Private Education Institutions and our university.
