KURALAY: ISTANBUL IS BEAUTIFULLY REFLECTED
Dr. İsrafil Kuralay, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Ticaret University, said, “This place means a lot to me. I would like to underline that with Istanbul Ticaret University being here today, this place has a different meaning and importance. I just had the opportunity to see some of the photos; they are really beautiful. I congratulate Mr. Metin and his friends. I say this as a brother of yours who has taken photographs for years; Istanbul is truly beautiful, but it is even more beautiful through your lenses, I congratulate you. I would like to thank ITO for making such a beautiful exhibition possible.”
KÖÇ: A VERY SPECIAL EXHIBITION
Mr. Yakup Köç, Treasurer Member of ITO Board of Directors, said, “As you know, as ITO, we hold various exhibitions in our Hünkar Pavillion once a month. Therefore, you know our support, as the business world, for art and artists, and today we are together for this reason. We have a special exhibition today. Today’s feature is a photography exhibition, Mr. Metin Yener and our valuable students took beautiful photos of Istanbul. I would like to thank all of them for their efforts and work, and I wish our exhibition to be beneficial.”
RECTOR AVŞAR: WE STRENGTHEN THEORETICAL EDUCATION WITH PRACTICE
Rector of Istanbul Ticaret University Prof. Dr. Abdulhamit Avşar said, “This is an important activity; we are implementing an educational model that aims to strengthen theory with practice. Hence, this is an exhibition consisting of Istanbul photographs taken by first-year students of Department of Media and Communication. Surely, it is very important to strengthen theoretical education with practice, but it is also important to add value to it. We wanted our students to tell how they see Istanbul through their frames and what value they attach to that frame, and that’s how this photography exhibition came about. This is a source of great excitement for students. Even though they are only first-year students, they have already had the opportunity to show themselves in the profession. Our projects of this type will continue. In fact, we have another such project specifically within the scope of the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Again, this will be an exhibition that we want to bring to life through our students. Mr. Metin Yener has a very important role here; he is an international award-winning journalist and also our lecturer. He contributes greatly to these projects.”
YENER: WE TRIED TO CONVEY THE UNSEEN FACE OF ISTANBUL
Journalist Mr. Metin Yener, lecturer at Istanbul Ticaret University Faculty of Communication, said, “The most important feature of this exhibition is that we brought the exhibition to this stage by training first-year students in the field and allowing them to take photographs, all in a short period of 4 months. As a result, a beautiful exhibition emerged. The students did a good job with a little practice in the field. I believe they will achieve much better things in the future. We tried to convey the unseen face of Istanbul and introduced Istanbul to our young people. I’m sure that many people will get curious and visit Istanbul after seeing these photos. That’s why I think it is an important exhibition. I recommend everyone to come and visit this exhibition.”
YILMAZ: I THINK THERE ARE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE SEEN THROUGH THE EYES OF YOUNG PEOPLE.
Utku Yılmaz, first-year student at Media and Communication at Istanbul Ticaret University, said, “The works exhibited here consist of 55 photographs taken by the students of Department of Media and Communication. Great effort was made for all of them. One of my photographs was taken on the 100th anniversary of the Republic; I photographed two ladies holding the Turkish flag in their hands, I wanted to make everyone feel the enthusiasm of the 100th anniversary of the Republic. In one of my other photographs, there is an old person coming out of the mosque in Ayvansaray. The feature of photography is the naturalness of the depicted event and its combination with perspective. Another one is a photo modeled by my friend. My advice to visitors is to examine them all one by one. I really think these are things that need to be seen through the eyes of young people.”
