“Digital Transformation and Metaverse”, the first course of the Ticar@ Software Developer Academy and Employment Centre Project implemented by Istanbul Commerce University with the support of Istanbul Development Agency, was given by Project Academic Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulhamit Avşar, Rector of Istanbul Commerce University, attended the first lesson of the project, which aims to train 1 million software developers within the scope of the National Employment Mobilisation published in the Presidential Strategy Document. The virtual course was held on the MetaKhan (Metaverse) Platform, the result of 2 years of work by Istanbul Commerce University Industrial Policy and Technology Management (SAPTEY) Post-Graduate students.
SOFTWARE DETERMINES THE FUTURE OF COMMUNICATION
Prof. Dr. Avşar stated that it was exciting to teach on such an important platform and said, “Communication is a field that goes especially parallel with software technology. Software determines the future of communication. Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), stated that they attach importance to the developments in software and artificial intelligence, and that they have started to prepare both the legal and technical infrastructure for the transformation of the entire university structure in the future. In this sense, software will be one of the brightest and most popular fields of the future.”
THE IMPORTANCE OF HUMAN IN THE SOFTWARE WORLD SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN
Stating that the Metaverse offers a universe to everyone in its new design and gives the opportunity to organise this universe, Prof. Dr. Avşar said, “These technical developments raise the question of whether this world can be without people and where should people be in this world? I think the question ‘Where is the human in this software?’ is very important and valuable. “I believe it is very important for our friends who are receiving education to also think about this question.”
PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
The project will enable 100 software developer candidates to receive 480 hours of training in web programming and game development and 60% of these participants will be employed for at least 6 months. Online personal development trainings, face-to-face practical trainings, camp processes, field visits and career summit will be organised in the project, which has a dynamic training and activity fiction. Face-to-face training will be held in the laboratory created at the Esenler Municipality Youth Center.
