ABOUT AVANT-GARDE CINEMA AND PAINTING
Prof. Dr. Şentürk’s work “Avant-Garde Cinema and Painting,” which provides a solid basis for discussion on avant-garde art movements, was published in 2024. One of the elements that makes the book valuable is that it is published simultaneously with the first Turkish edition of Kitab-ul Menazır, written 1,000 years ago by Ibn al-Haytham, who is considered the father of optical science and, consequently, of optical-related visual arts such as cinema and photography, and is published as a companion piece by the same publisher. The work offers a profound perspective that facilitates the understanding of avant-garde movements, based on the fact that discussions of avant-garde cinema in our country have not found sufficient space within the art community and communication faculties.
