Doyen names instilled entrepreneurship spirit in young people at the Entrepreneurship Summit

The 12th Entrepreneurship Summit brought together the leading names of the entrepreneurship ecosystem and young entrepreneur candidates. The summit instilled the spirit of entrepreneurship in young people with the participation of expert speakers such as Avane Cloud Kitchen founder and angel investor Ahmet Orhon, Interrail Turkey Platform founder and traveller Bestami Köse and GZT Editor-in-Chief Doğukan Gezer.
The Entrepreneurship Summit, which was organised for the 12th time this year by Istanbul Commerce University Entrepreneurship Community, was met with great interest. Avane Cloud Kitchen Founder and Angel Investor Ahmet Orhon, Interrail Turkey Platform Founder and Traveller Bestami Köse and GZT Editor-in-Chief Doğukan Gezer attended the summit as speakers.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS NOW AT THE CENTRE OF LIFE
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Abdulhamit Avşar, who made the opening speech of the event, stated that entrepreneurship has become a concept close to the centre of life and said, “The most important feature of the entrepreneur is to produce an original new idea. It is also to be able to produce a value. More importantly, whether an entrepreneur will undertake the risk of the product he produces is a very important factor that determines the outcome. If there is no difficulty in life, life itself has no value. For this reason, entrepreneurs can be successful if they are patient and persistent. “No matter how valuable your idea is, if you don’t take action, it is meaningless,” he said.
“MONEY CAN NEVER BE A SOURCE OF MOTIVATION”
Speaking in the first session of the event, Ahmet Orhon stated that he was the first student in Turkey to go abroad with the Erasmus program and explained the DNA of entrepreneurship. Orhon shared the lessons he learnt from his mistakes and experiences and explained how they had an impact on the shaping of his life and told the story of the birth of entrepreneurship in Turkey. Orhon, giving the information that 99 per cent of venture stories in Turkey fail after a certain number of years,” Your main goal in entrepreneurship should not be to make money. If you are already becoming an entrepreneur to make money, you are on the wrong track. You need to figure out the meaning of this matter. Money will never be a sufficient source of motivation. The work you do has no meaning unless you find the meaning of your life. I think this is the main reason for going through a midlife crisis. When you look back, it is the emotional collapse of working only to earn money and doing nothing else.”
COURAGE IS ENOUGH TO GO ABROAD
In the second session of the event, Bestami Köse mentioned that being a traveller was a turning point in his life and the importance of travelling the world for one’s own development. Köse noted that courage is enough to go abroad and shared the necessary tips for obtaining a visa with the participants. Stating that the purpose of establishing the Interrail Turkey platform is to solve the problems that travellers experience in the world and to help them, Köse said that they met thousands of people during the last period and that they enjoyed these trips very much.
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IS NOW A MUST FOR EVERYONE
In the last session of the event, GZT platform Editor-in-Chief Doğukan Gezer took the floor. Gezer underlined that digital transformation is now essential for everyone and said, “Social media accounts have now gained importance in job interviews. What they do on their social media accounts during job interviews at the institution is important to us. We hire people with strong social media skills”. Emphasising that social media companies are looking for their new stars, Gezer said, “In the past, social media companies reduced revenue sharing. Now, influencers who earned high money in the past continue their journey with collaborations. Users have to keep up with the regularly changing algorithms, otherwise posts with 1 million impressions may drop to thousands”.
