The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has launched the “Stop Food Waste in Istanbul” campaign to raise awareness about food waste. The campaign, in which our university is also a partner, aims to raise awareness among all segments of society.

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), recognizing that millions of tons of food are thrown away each year, launched the “Stop Food Waste Istanbul” campaign to raise awareness about food waste. The campaign, which involves our university as well as ministries, municipalities, and civil society organizations, was launched with the aim of raising public awareness and leaving a more livable world for future generations.

The campaign was announced to the public at a launch event hosted by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. WIDE-RANGING TRAINING SESSIONS WILL BE PROVIDED AS PART OF THE CAMPAIGN
The project, initiated under the leadership of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, will not only raise awareness but will also be supported by direct training programs. Awareness training on waste reduction will be provided to four separate target groups: “producers, retailers, the service sector, and schools.” These training sessions will cover topics such as the causes of food waste, its economic and environmental impacts, and methods for preventing waste. The project aims to reach 100,000 people directly and 500,000 people indirectly in Istanbul.
OUR UNIVERSITY IS CONTRIBUTING TO THE CAMPAIGN ACADEMICALLY AND SOCIALLY
Our university is also among the partners of this important campaign, aiming to contribute to a sustainable future through its education and research activities. Our university will continue to play an active role in such projects to raise awareness about food waste among all segments of society, particularly students.
