ITO Vice President Dr. İsrafil Kuralay pointed out that the “Movie Industry in Turkey” reports are valuable in terms of foreseeing the course of the movie industry, and said, “Our communication and media committee put a great effort into this study. We conduct other studies as well. For example, our study on the social effects of Turkish TV series has also been completed”.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Rıdvan Şentürk, a faculty member at Istanbul Ticaret University, stated that part of the pandemic period was included in the report, which covered a 5-year period, and said, “It was an important and critical period both in terms of economic and worsening working conditions. We have taken due care to evaluate this period. The study was meaningful also in terms of comparison with previous periods. We tried to measure how the economic reflection of the pandemic period affected the sector.”
Dr. Kuralay noted that the Movie Industry in Turkey study, in addition to showing the distance covered by the movie industry, also provided a road map. Dr. Kuralay said, “We have evaluated the changes that have occurred in the sector in a span of 15 years in the light of scientific methods in three separate research reports. Based on the report, we can say that although there are positive changes, we still cannot realize our potential in a creative sense. Yes, our TV series are screened in 150 countries; however, we must be able to achieve the same in the movie industry as well.”
