Our Rector Prof. Dr. Necip Şimşek shared information about our University at the November Ordinary Assembly Meeting of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and emphasized that ‘they continue to contribute to Turkey’s higher education with its competent staff and the vision of the university of the business world’.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Necip Şimşek attended the November ordinary meeting of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce with the invitations of Dr. Erhan Erken, Chairman of the Assembly of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and Şekib Avdagiç, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. Our Rector, who attended the invitation accompanied by our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Berk Ayvaz, Prof. Dr. Hanifi Parlar and our Secretary General Erdal Cesar, conveyed the greetings of our Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. İsrafil Kuralay, who is abroad, to the Assembly. Our Rector shared information about our University at the Assembly meeting and emphasized that ‘they continue to contribute to Turkey’s higher education with their competent staff and the vision of the university of the business world’.
OUR UNIVERSITY LEAVES A QUARTER CENTURY OF EXPERIENCE BEHIND
Stating that Istanbul Commerce University, which was founded by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce in 2001, is preparing to leave behind a quarter century of experience, our Rector Prof. Dr. Necip Şimşek said that a total of 9,600 students are studying at the university with 1,424 new students this year.
A GREAT RISE IN ACADEMIC SUCCESS
Prof. Dr. Şimşek emphasized that according to the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) report published by the Middle East Technical University Informatics Institute, our University is one of the two fastest rising foundation universities in Turkey, rising 26 places. Also, Prof. Dr. Şimşek stated that they have achieved a steady increase in the number of e-resources in the library within the framework of the 2024 Monitoring and Evaluation Report of the Higher Education Council.
GRADUATE SATISFACTION RANKS IN THE TOP THREE IN THE BUSINESS WORLD
Stating that our university is among the top three in terms of the satisfaction rate of its graduates in the business world, Prof. Dr. Şimşek stated that this success was achieved thanks to strong collaborations with the business world. Prof. Dr. Şimşek said that more than 12 thousand students have been provided with internship opportunities in ITO and ITO affiliated organizations so far and that they aim to increase this number in the new period.
STRONG PROGRESS IN THE INTERNATIONAL AREA
Prof. Dr. Şimşek explained that in 2024, the university signed international collaborations with sister geographies, especially with the Turkic world. Şimşek stated that the university reinforced its internationalization vision by being accepted as a member of the Union of Turkic Universities (TÜRKÜNİB) affiliated to the Organization of Turkic States and that they hosted important international meetings attended by more than 350 academics from 40 countries.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE UNIVERSITY AND STUDENTS FROM GAZA
Stating that the university provided 100% scholarships to 27 Gaza students who suffered greatly as a result of the Israeli attacks, Prof. Dr. Şimşek emphasized that they provide all necessary support for these students to continue their education.
