Istanbul Ticaret University’s project was entitled to receive support within the scope of the Talent Istanbul Employment-Guaranteed Financial Support Program by the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA). The project named Ticar@ Software Developer Academy and Employment Center aims to train and employ manpower with the knowledge, skills and abilities needed by the software industry by establishing innovative and application-based training and employment centers.
ISTKA had announced a project called “Talent Istanbul” in recent months to fill the qualified manpower gap in Türkiye’s software industry and to provide new employment to the industry. The project, which is open to applications from Municipalities, Universities, Technology Development Zone Management Companies and Organized Industrial Zones, aims to select candidates who would like to be employed in this sector, increase their skills, and ensure their employment in order to meet the human resources needs of the software sector.
In this regard, Istanbul Ticaret University Technology Transfer Office (TICARET TTO) made preparations and submitted a project to ISTKA. The project of TICARET TTO was among the projects that were accepted and entitled to receive support.
With the project prepared by TICARET TTO, the trainees who submit an application will be given software training for four months. The total duration of the training will be 480 hours, with a maximum of six hours in a day. At the end of the fourth month, successful trainees will be provided with employment.
QUALIFIED EMPLOYEES WILL BE BROUGHT TO THE SECTOR
TICARET will carry out the project it has prepared jointly with Esenler Municipality, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Technopark Istanbul, Esenler Smart City Technopark, Brain Team Science Association and Economic Research Foundation. Among the project participants are Beykoz Municipality, Brain Team Science Association Economic Enterprise, NETAX Informatics and Consulting, Çözümevi Management Consultancy and Computer Software Inc., IQ Vizyon Digital Transformation Inc., Model Information Processing Co. Ltd., Teknopalas High Technology Systems, and Moreum Information Technologies. The project is also supported by Turkish Airlines (THY) Technology Inc., Orion Innovation Türkiye, Ahmet Çalık Foundation and Turkish Informatics Association.
The software industry in Türkiye directly contributes to 61 out of 64 industries with the outputs and services it produces. For this reason, there is a constant need for qualified personnel in the software industry. The employment profile of the software industry, which requires an increase in quality rather than an increase in quantity in the workforce, has to be flexible and creative in order to respond to the ever-increasing and diversifying need for software-based products and services. With the Ticar@ Software Developer Academy and Employment Center project, at least 60 new qualified personnel will be brought to the software industry.
