Speaking at the ‘Searching for Human’ conference organized at our university, Researcher-Writer Mehmet Fatih Çıtlak said, “Today, despite all kinds of technological developments, lack of understanding, disease and wars are not decreasing.”
Speaking at the ‘Searching for Human’ conference held at Istanbul Commerce University Sütlüce Campus Conference Hall, Researcher-Writer Mehmet Fatih Çıtlak discussed the meaning of human, spiritual dimensions and the purpose of creation. The panel moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dr. Gencay Karakaya, Director of the Finance Institute, was attended by Yusuf Cevahir, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Dr. Necip Şimşek, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Hanifi Parlar and Prof. Dr. Berk Ayvaz, academicians and students of our university.

IMPORTANT ADVICE FOR STUDENTS
Addressing the students who listened to the conference, Fatih Çıtlak emphasized the importance of knowledge and wisdom on the way to becoming a human being and said, “Angels spread wings at the feet of students who make an effort to learn knowledge. You should try to learn not only academic knowledge but also the truth about humanity.” Çıtlak drew attention to the importance of students discovering their own potential.
SOMEONE WHO CANNOT SAY I DON’T KNOW IS IGNORANT
Emphasizing in his speech that there is no end to learning, Çıtlak reminded that a person who does not know what he does not know, who cannot say that he does not know what he does not know, no matter what position and title he holds, is called ignorant. Çıtlak said, “A wise is not someone who knows. A person who wants to know and continues to desire to learn. An ignorant person is someone who does not have the desire to learn what he does not know.” Çıtlak stated that the way to discover oneself is not to pursue the cause of ego and said: “Allah has created every human being with care and when a human being realizes his/her creation, he/she can be truly human. When a person starts to question who he is and where he comes from, he reaches the truth.”

“THERE IS NO BEING MORE PERFECT THAN A HUMAN”
Emphasizing the importance of understanding the wisdom behind human creation, Çıtlak said, “God has not created a being more perfect than human. Huma is the essence of the universe, both in physical and spiritual aspects, and carries the secret of creation.” Çıtlak stated that the human being is not only a physical being, but also shaped by elements such as the soul, spirit, mind and heart, and that these elements need to be balanced.
THE MODERN WORLD HAS ALIENATED THE HUMAN FROM THE HUMAN
Emphasizing that despite the increase in communication opportunities in the modern world, individuals are distancing from each other and spiritual disconnections are experienced, Çıtlak said, “Today, despite all kinds of technological developments, lack of understanding, diseases and wars are not decreasing.” In his speech, Çıtlak also discussed the Sufi approaches to the inner world of human beings and said, “Sufism advises people to realize the essence within themselves and to build their morality both in the mold and in the heart with that essence. This is a discipline that comes to life with love for Allah.”
At the end of the program, our Rector Prof. Dr. Necip Şimşek said, “As mathematicians, we evaluate the truth and reality of something in space; however, as our teacher emphasized, human beings are not limited to the life they live. We thank him for directing this profound question to our youth.” The program ended with gift presentations and group photo taking.
