Istanbul Ticaret University Strengthens Its International Collaborations

Istanbul Ticaret University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Torlak held important meetings with the officials of various universities in Uzbekistan on the occasion of an international symposium.
In addition to Prof. Dr. Torlak, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çaha, Head of the Media and Communication Studies Department Prof. Dr. Abdulhamit Avşar, Director of the Continuing Education Center Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hanifi Parlar, our academicians Dr. Zebiniso Kamalava and Dr. Kamala Valiyeva, academicians and members of the press attended the international conference entitled “Quality Education and Interdisciplinary Approach: Problems, Solutions and Collaborations” held at the Gulistan State University campus in Gulistan, Uzbekistan.
Prof. Dr. Torlak and the accompanying delegation were welcomed by Gulistan State University Rector Prof. Dr. Muhsin T. Hociyev at the university. Afterwards, a concert consisting of Turkish and Uzbek songs was given by the university choir in honor of the guests, and bread, honey and salt were offered in accordance with traditional customs.
Istanbul Ticaret University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Torlak made a speech at the opening ceremony of the symposium which was attended by Governor of Sirdarya Region Mr. Akmal Mahmudaliev. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Torlak mentioned the importance of cooperation between universities in providing quality education and the relevant experience of the Republic of Türkiye, and stated that they attach great importance to bilateral cooperation as a university. In this regard, Prof. Dr. Torlak stated that they attach special importance to Uzbekistan, and said, “I am pleased to cooperate with the friendly and brotherly country of Uzbekistan in the field of higher education.”
Along these lines, Gulistan State University Rector Prof. Dr. Muhsin T. Hociyev stated that they aim to have comprehensive cooperation and particularly develop bilateral education relations between their universiy and other universities, and thanked Rector Prof. Dr. Torlak for his visit.
Prof. Dr. Hociyev said that it was valuable to have participation from four different universities in Türkiye, and from Istanbul Ticaret University in particular.
Governor of Sirdarya Region Mr. Akmal Mahmudaliev, who made the opening speech of the symposium, stated that they attach great importance to international cooperation in the field of education and that he personally supports such initiatives of universities in his region. Rector Prof. Dr. Torlak personally thanked all the academicians who participated in the symposium.
Making a speech at the opening ceremony, Istanbul Ticaret University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çaha drew attention to scholars such as Biruni, İbn Sina and Farabi raised by Uzbekistan and said that these lands have made important contributions to science for centuries and still have the potential to shine a light on the world of science.
Balıkesir University Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu and Kazan Federal University Rector, who attended the opening ceremony of the symposium online, also mentioned the importance of inter-university cooperation and quality education, and stated that mutual collaborations should increase.
Head of the Department of Media and Communication at the Faculty of Communication of Istanbul Ticaret University Prof. Dr. Abdulhamit Avşar, Head of the Department of Educational Sciences at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Istanbul Ticaret University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hanifi Parlar, faculty member from the same department Dr. Zebiniso Kamalova, and faculty member from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul Ticaret University Dr. Kamala Valiyeva also attended the two-day event, and made oral presentations on improving the quality of education in their fields.
Within the scope of the event, the delegation from Istanbul Ticaret University also had meetings in Samarkand and Bukhara, the founding centers of the Turkish-Islamic Civilization.
The delegation was welcomed in Bukhara by Dr. Sherzod Murodov, Vice-Chancellor of Bukhara Pedagogical Institute. During the meeting between Rector Prof. Dr. Torlak and Dr. Muradov, bilateral cooperation opportunities were considered.
Istanbul Ticaret University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Torlak later had a meeting with Bukhara State University Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abror Turobovic. In this meeting, cooperation opportunities between the two universities were discussed.
During the visits to Samarkand and Bukhara, the delegation visisted the tombs of Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, Abdulhalik Gucduvani, Bahaeddin Nakşibendi, and Emir Timur, as well as the Shah-i Zinde Complex.
Additionally, Registan, which has become the symbol of Samarkand, and Turkish-Islamic works in Bukhara, one of the largest museum cities in the world, were also visited with great admiration.
In addition to Istanbul Ticaret University officials and academicians, academicians from Balikesir University, Istanbul University and Istanbul Kultur University also attended the symposium and the visits held in the context of the symposium, which lasted for four days between May 25th and 28th, 2023.
