Our Palestinian students: “We are grateful to Istanbul Ticaret University”

Our Palestinian students, most of whom are from Gaza, studying at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels at Istanbul Ticaret University, paid a thank you visit to the Rector of Istanbul Ticaret University, Prof. Dr. Abdulhamit Avşar.

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Abdulhamit Avşar, noted during the visit that Turkic countries and the Turkish nation have always had a special interest in Jerusalem and Palestinian lands, but this interest was never about imperialist goals. Stating that today, Türkiye and the Turkish people approach the events in Gaza with the same humane feelings, Prof. Dr. Avşar said, “Even though we continue to smile in daily life, our hearts continue to cry for Gaza. We always stand by you. I want you to feel at home during your stay at our university. Our doors are wide open to you, as to all our students.”

Palestinian students also expressed their feelings of thankfulness and gratitude to the Turkish people and the Republic of Türkiye before the management of Istanbul Ticaret University, which was the first university to react to the inhumane genocide in Gaza by taking a senate decision. Speaking on behalf of Palestinian students, PhD Student Mr. Raif Baraka said, “While international institutions remain silent against Gaza, Türkiye raises its voice and reaches out. We are very happy about this.” The visit, in which our International Office Director Prof. Dr. Yusuf Devran and our university administrators were also present, ended with a group photo shoot.
