Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilıcalı Addressed Transportation Problems at UCLG-MEWA Meeting

Istanbul Ticaret University Transportation Systems Application and Research Center Director Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilıcalı, as the main theme speaker at the Joint Meeting of the UCLG-MEWA Board of Directors and Council held in Diyarbakır, presented his solution proposals for the transportation problems of Türkiye and metropolitan cities.
The Joint Meeting of the United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Regional Organization (UCLG-MEWA) Board of Directors and Council was held in Diyarbakır with the participation of mayors of important cities such as Konya, Trabzon, Şanlıurfa and representatives of municipalities from various countries. Istanbul Ticaret University Transportation Systems Application and Research Center Director Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilıcalı, who attended the meeting as the main theme speaker, made evaluations about the transportation and traffic problems of metropolitan cities.
SOLUTION-ORIENTED APPROACHES TO TRANSPORTATION PROBLEMS
Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı’s presentation titled “Evaluation of Transportation-Traffic Problems of Our Country and Metropolitan Cities and Solution Proposals”, prepared with his long-standing experience in transportation systems, attracted great interest from the participants. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı discussed the multifaceted effects of transportation strategies in cities and offered solutions to related problems. The meeting, where the participants held solution-oriented discussions, focused on the policies that should be adopted to make cities more sustainable and resilient.
METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITIES TRANSPORTATION REPORT WAS PRESENTED
The “Metropolitan Municipalities Transportation Problems and Solutions Coordination and Evaluation Final Report” prepared under the coordination of our university was also presented at the meeting. Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı presented the report to the mayors who attended the meeting. The report discussed in detail the transportation problems faced by metropolitan cities and related solution proposals. Following the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı and the mayors paid a courtesy visit to Diyarbakır Governor Mr. Murat Zorluoğlu.
