Lateral Transfer Requirements for Graduate Programs

The conditions for lateral transfers to graduate programs are regulated in the relevant article of the Istanbul Commerce University Graduate Education and Instruction Regulations:


Article 44

  1. Successful students who have completed at least one semester, excluding scientific preparatory studies, in a graduate program within an institute of the University or in a graduate program of another higher education institution may apply for lateral transfer to graduate programs.

  2. Applicants wishing to transfer from an institute affiliated with another university to a similar and equivalent program within an institute of the University—whose equivalency has been approved by the relevant institute board—must have completed at least one semester of graduate study at their original institute, must have successfully passed all courses taken, and must meet the current admission requirements of the graduate program to which they are applying.

  3. The same conditions apply to lateral transfers between institutes and departments within the University, as well as to transfers between thesis and non-thesis master’s programs.

  4. Which of the courses previously taken by these students will be counted toward the relevant graduate program shall be determined by the proposal of the head of the department to which the student is affiliated and the decision of the institute’s executive board. Evaluations regarding the equivalency of courses completed and passed by these students shall be carried out by the relevant institute board.

  5. Students admitted through latertal transfer are subject to the maximum duration limits specified in these Regulations for the stage of the program at which they are admitted.
