Istanbul Commerce University Participated in the 7th R&D and Innovation Summit and Fair with Its Projects

Istanbul Commerce University showcased its R&D-focused projects to industry representatives and investors at the 7th  R&D and Innovation Summit and Fair, where it participated with its Technology Transfer Office stand. At the fair, which was attended by our Board of Trustees Chairman Dr.  İsrafil Kuralay with his opening speech and where strong messages were conveyed regarding high value-added production and the commercialization of R&D, our students’ projects attracted significant interest.

Istanbul Commerce University participated in the 7th  R&D and Innovation Summit and Fair, one of the leading events in the technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem, with its Technology Transfer Office stand, bringing its R&D-focused projects together with industry representatives and investors. The Summit, held on November 26-27, was organized by Yıldız Technical University in collaboration with the Architects and Engineers Group. It brought together representatives from academia, the public sector, and the private sector under broad topics ranging from the defense industry to biotechnology, and from the gaming economy to energy transformation, sharing future technology investments and R&D-based solution proposals throughout the fair.

THE RIBBON WAS CUT BY MINISTER KACIR

The opening of the event was conducted by Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, while the ceremony was attended by our Board of Trustees Chairman Dr.  İsrafil Kuralay, TUSAŞ Board of Directors Chairman Ömer Cihat Vardan, YÖKAK Member and YTÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, our faculty member Prof.  Dr. Dr. Mustafa Ilıcalı, Önder Kul, General Manager of the Knowledge Commercialization Center, Yavuz Sarı, President of the Architects and Engineers Group, and protocol members.

FOCUS ON HIGH VALUE-ADDED PRODUCTION

Dr.  Kuralay, who delivered the opening speech, emphasized that R&D and innovation are meaningful not only in terms of production but also in terms of the commercialization process, and pointed out that high value-added production is a strategic necessity in Turkey’s development process. In his speech, Dr.  Kuralay stated that technology should be considered not only in economic terms but also in terms of its social and ethical responsibilities, adding that engineers and architects bear greater responsibilities in terms of the environment, people, and society.

OUR UNIVERSITY’S STAND ATTRACTED A LOT OF ATTENTION

Following the opening ceremony, Minister Kacır, Dr.  Kuralay, Vardan, Kul, and Prof. Dr. Ilıcalı visited our university’s booth. During the visit, TTO Deputy Coordinator Atty. Safiye Soyupak, TTO Specialist Ayşe Cengiz, and EU Projects Specialist Esin Ihlamur Arslan provided information about the process, while Kutay Sarsılmaz, a Mechatronics Engineering student receiving TÜBİTAK BİGG support, and our graduate Ahmet İlke presented their projects. The stand became the center of attention in terms of the university’s work in technology development and entrepreneurship.

MAGNETIC LEVITATION PROJECT ATTRACTS ATTENTION

One of the stand’s standout projects was the Magnetic Levitation Technologies study developed by our student Sarsılmaz and his team. Providing information about the project, Sarsılmaz made the following statements: The name of our project is magnetic levitation technologies. We plan to use this technology to produce promotional products in the first stage. With the knowledge we have gained here, we aim to integrate it into traditional conveyor systems. We received investment support for our project under the TÜBİTAK Young Entrepreneur Program. We have also initiated the process of establishing a company within Teknopark Istanbul. Once we complete the formalities, we plan to continue our R&D activities under the company umbrella.

TTO and student teams played an active role at the fair

At the fair, President Osman Bilici and team member Mısra Baran also represented our student team Pulsar Team, which produces electric vehicles, and provided visitors with information about projects and entrepreneurship processes. The stand became a productive communication point where student projects met industry.
