Istanbul Commerce University Banking and Finance Department Junior students started a substantive campaign on World Children's Day. It is aimed to collect 10 thousand blankets for Syrian and Iraqi refugees.

Istanbul Commerce University Faculty of Commercial Sciences Banking and Finance Department Junior students started a campaign “Let’s Support Us, Warm the Cockles of Their Hearts” for the refugees who have fled from Syrian Civil War and settled in camps on the southeastern coast of Turkiye and in Duhok of Iraq. The blankets collected in the campaign will be sent to refugee camps by trucks.

President of the Organizing Committee of the Campaign, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences Prof. Mehmet Hasan Eken said “When we recently visited one of the refugee camps, they expressed their satisfaction with Turkey's hospitality, ‘Our needs are eliminated. However, cold days are approaching. If possible, please send us blankets’ they said. These words affected me so deeply because they wanted neither money nor food. They wanted blankets to protect themselves from the cold. We request everyone donate a blanket which is not used at home.”

The campaign will continue until 10 December 2014 with the goal of collecting at least 10 thousand blankets. "Those who want to join our campaign can find detailed information from the announcements on our university's web page." Eken said.
