For the Attention of International Students Who Need to Extend Their Student Residence Permit for the 2015-2016 Spring Term

ABOUT THE EXTENSION APPOINTMENT FOR RESIDENCE PERMIT

In order to avoid any mistakes, please carefully read through the below information about the extension appointment that is compulsory to extend the student residence permit.

WHAT IS THE EXTENSION APPOINTMENT?

Students, who have already a residence permit that has not expired yet, are required to make extension appointment to extend their student residence permit for the next academic term or year.
Students can make extension appointment within the last 2 months of the expiration of their residence permit.
To be able to make extension appointment, only 2 months validity or less should remain on their residence permit card.
Appointment date is not written on any document related to the extension appointment.
Student, who makes appointment, has a 5 DAY period starting effectively from the date that the appointment was made.
Within 5 days from the date that the appointment was made, student should send all the required documents by registered letter with return receipt to Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
Students, who post their documents to Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, must get a registered letter with return receipt from the Turkish Post Office – PTT. The sent receipt from PTT is required to confirm the application (and also to check it later on).
Students must keep for themselves a copy of all the payment receipts together with the registered letter with return receipt.
Effective from 01.01.2016, the appointments of students, who do not send their documents within 5 days, will be deemed invalid.
When the extension appointment is made, system automatically issues an application document (that entitles the individual to go abroad / cross the border only for 15 days maximum). Student must keep that application document with them. THE APPLICATION DOCUMENT MUST NOT BE POSTED!
When the extension appointment is made, the address of Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Migration Management is written on the appointment printout.
